Ahmedabad: Widespread rain is likely in Gujarat between September 19 and 21, the India Meteorological Department has predicted. Saurashtra region will get heavy to very heavy rain in several places. Ahmedabad, especially its southern parts, will get light to moderate rain.
Districts like Dahod, Panchmahals, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Kheda, Anand and others are expected to get good rains during this period.
On Saturday, while all districts of the state are likely to get light to moderate rainfall, heavy rain is expected in Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada and Bharuch.
Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea on September 20-21.
Gujarat has so far received 72.86 per cent of its average annual rainfall.
Area-wise, the highest, 86.06 per cent, has been received by Saurashtra, followed by Kutch wiht 75.02 per cent, South Gujarat 73.41 percent, East Central 61.92 per cent and North 56.76 per cent
Recently, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Rajkot districts in Saurashtra had been battered by incessant rains. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted an aerial survey of Rajkot and guided district administration officials about relief work. Due to the heavy rains, several villages had been cut off from the rest of the state. Thousands of residents of low-lying areas had to be evacuated to safer places.
