Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government on Thursday announced the formation of a five-member high-level committee, which will investigate incidents of sexual assault and misconduct against women and also suggest steps to prevent such incidents in the state.
On this matter, the Chief Secretary of the Home Department said that CM Rupani has taken this important decision to prevent such incidents in future. This step has been taken keeping in mind the incidents of rape happening to women in Gujarat. In Gujarat, the incident of rape recently came to light in Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot. After which CM Vijay Rupani has constituted a five-member committee to expedite the investigation into the rape case and punish the offenders severely.
Gujarat Home Minister Pradeep Singh Jadeja said that,”The committee will also give suggestions to prevent and stop such incidents.” This committee will be headed by additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Secretary of law department, Police DGP, Additional DG has been included in the committee as a member. The committee will meet every 15 days and review all the vases of sexual assault.
Giving information in this regard, Pradeep Singh Jadeja said that the state government has requested the Gujarat HC to hear the case soon. Not only this, it is being planned to run such cases in the fast track court. He said that the State Government will also provide financial assistance for the victims by creating Victim Compensation Fund. After the incident of Hyderabad gang rape and rape victim in Unnao, there has been an atmosphere of outrage across the country. In such a situation, this committee has been formed to stop such incidents in Gujarat.
