Gujarat on Monday recorded 1,033 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of such cases in the state to 79,816. The state has in all recorded 14,435 active cases of which 69 are on ventilator support.
The state also saw 15 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, three were in Surat and Ahmedabad each. Two deaths each were reported from Morbi, Rajkot, Vadodara and Bhavnagar. Gir Somnath also recorded one case.
All the deaths in Ahmedabad and Surat were recorded from the city limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,802.
The addition of the three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,663. The death toll has increased to 560 in Surat, whereas it remains 113 for Vadodara and 49 for Gandhinagar.
Surat city saw 168 new cases being recorded while 75 were reported from the district. Similarly Ahmedabad Corporation area had 145 new cases while it was just 13 in the district.
Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 94 and 15 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had less cases than the district.
Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics
The state has recorded over 1,100 cases 11 times, over 1000 cases seventeen times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
The state conducted 45,540 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 which comes to 700.61 tests per million. The state has tested over 13 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
