Gujarat on Saturday reported 1,101 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The state has recorded over 1,100 cases eight times since the pandemic began.
The overall number of COVID-19 cases has now crossed 69,000. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Gujarat now stands at 68,986.
The state has recorded over 1000 cases for eleven times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
Death due to corona in Gujarat
Gujarat recorded 23 new deaths due to COVID-19 on Saturday.
Of the total deaths, 10 were recorded in Surat, five in Ahmedabad and two each in Junagadh, Kutch and Vadodara. One death each was reported from Amreli and Gandhinagar corporation.
With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,629. The COVID-19 death toll is 1,633 for Ahmedabad, 498 for Surat, 97 for Vadodara and 47 for Gandhinagar.
Surat recorded 226 new cases, while Ahmedabad had 158 cases. Of the total cases recorded in Ahmedabad and Surat, 139 and 182 cases respectively were recorded within the city limits
Vadodara recorded 113 new cases while state capital Gandhinagar had 30 new cases.
Other Gujarat COVID-19 statistics
The state has in all recorded 14,530 active cases of which 82 are on a ventilator. Gujarat ranks 14th in new cases of COVID-19 being recorded across the country.
It ranks ninth in the number of active COVID-19 patients in India. The state has conducted over 9.56 lakh sample tests for the disease while 4.80 lakh people remain in quarantine in various districts of Gujarat.
Of this, 4.79 lakh people are under home quarantine. The state said it is carrying out 404.18 tests per million.
