Gujarat COVID-19 Update: State inches close to 1 lakh mark


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Wednesday touched 99,050  as the state recorded 1,305 new cases. This is the second time that the state has recorded over 1,300 cases in a day. 

 The state has carried out 74,523 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,141 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 80.82%. The state has in all recorded 15,948 active cases of which 94 are on ventilator support.


The state also saw 12 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, six were in Surat and three in Ahmedabad. Gandhinagar recorded two deaths while Vadodara had one fatality.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, two deaths were in SMC limits while all the three deaths were in AMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,048.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,723. The death toll has increased to 643 in Surat, whereas it remains 134 for Vadodara and 54 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 176 new cases being recorded while 89 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 149 new cases while it was 20 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 89 and 17 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day six times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 74,523 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1146.50. The state has tested over 24 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
