Gujarat COVID-19 Update: Death toll crosses 3,000

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Sunday touched 95,155 as the state recorded 1,272 new cases. This is the second time in August that the state has recorded 1,272 new cases in a day. The state has carried out 69,488 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,095 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 80.67%. The state has in all recorded 15,390 active cases of which 84 are on ventilator support.

 

The state also saw 17 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were in Surat and four in Ahmedabad. Bhavnagar and Vadodara recorded two fatalities each. Amreli, Banaskantha, Jamnagar and Sabarkantha had one death each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four deaths were in AMC limits while three were in SMC limits.

With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,008.

The addition of five fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,713. The death toll has increased to 628 in Surat, whereas it remains 130 for Vadodara and 51 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 174 new cases being recorded while 83 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 146 new cases while it was 23 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 93 and 24 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day five times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 69,488 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million now standing at 1069.05. The state has tested over 22 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
