Gujarat COVID-19 Update: Cases dip below 1000


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Monday touched 1,60,722 as the state recorded 996 new cases. This is the first time in many months that cases have dipped below the 1000 mark.

The cases have dipped below the 1300 level after more than a month and below 1200 after several months. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 26 days now while it has recorded over 1400 cases for nine days so far. 

The state has carried out 52,192 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,147 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 88.85%. 

The state has in all recorded 14,277 active cases of which 71 are on ventilator support. So far 1,42,799 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.

The state also saw 8 fatalities due to the disease. Of these, three were in Ahmedabad and Surat. Vadodara recorded two fatalities each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three were in AMC and two in SMC limits. With this, the Gujarat COVID-19 fatalities stand at 3,646.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,878. The death toll has increased to 827 in Surat, whereas it remains 204 for Vadodara and 87 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 165 new cases being recorded while 62 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 160 new cases while it was 18 in the district.

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 70 and 24 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day 11 times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 24 times, over 1,000 cases 20 times, over 900 cases nine times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

52,192 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as part of Gujarat COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 802.95. The state has tested over 54 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
