Gujarat COVID-19 numbers on Tuesday crossed 80,000 as the state recorded 1,126 new COVID-19 cases. With this, the total number of such cases in the state now stands at 80,942. The state has in all recorded 14,410 active cases of which 78 are on ventilator support.
The state also saw 20 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, seven were in Surat and four Ahmedabad each. Two deaths each were reported from Bhavangar, Kutch and Amreli. Gir-Somnath, Rajkot and Vadodara recorded one death each.
Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four each were recorded from the city limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,822.
The addition of the three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,667. The death toll has increased to 567 in Surat, whereas it remains 114 for Vadodara and 49 for Gandhinagar.
Surat city saw 175 new cases being recorded while 77 were reported from the district. Similarly Ahmedabad Corporation area had 149 new cases while it was just 16 in the district.
Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 89 and 11 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had less cases than the district.
Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics
The state has recorded over 1,100 cases 12 times, over 1000 cases seventeen times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
The state conducted 47,234 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 which comes to 800.52 tests per million. The state has tested over 14 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
