Gujarat on Thursday reported 1,092 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of such cases in the state to 75,500. The state has in all recorded 14,310 active cases of which 79 are on a ventilator.
The state also saw 18 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were recorded in Surat and four in Ahmedabad. All the deaths in Ahmedabad and Surat were recorded from the city limits.
Rajkot recorded three deaths. Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, Gir-Somnath, Jamnagar, Kutch and Vadodara recorded one death each. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,733.
The COVID-19 death toll is 1,648 for Ahmedabad, 524 for Surat, 104 for Vadodara and 48 for Gandhinagar.
Surat city saw 181 new cases being recorded while 70 were reported from the district. Similarly Ahmedabad Corporation area had 143 new cases while it was just 23 in the district.
Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 87 and 15 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had less cases than the district.
Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics
The state has recorded over 1,100 cases 10 times, over 1000 cases fourteen times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
The state conducted 50,817 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 which comes to 781.80 tests per million. The state has tested over 11 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
