Gujarat COVID-19 Update: Cases cross 1 lakh mark


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Thursday touched 1,00,375  as the state recorded 1,325 new cases. This is the third consecutive day that the state has recorded over 1,300 cases.  The state has carried out 75,487 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,126 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 80.88%. The state has in all recorded 16,131 active cases of which 89 are on ventilator support.


The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were in Surat and three in Ahmedabad. Rajkot recorded three deaths while Vadodara had two. Bharuch, Bhavnagar and Gandhinagar recorded one death each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, two deaths were in SMC limits while all the three deaths were in AMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,064.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,726. The death toll has increased to 648 in Surat, whereas it remains 136 for Vadodara and 55 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 179 new cases being recorded while 93 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 150 new cases while it was 16 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 86 and 20 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day six times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 75,487 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1161.33. The state has tested over 25 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
