Gujarat COVID-19 Update: Cases cross 1.12 lakh mark

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Saturday touched 1,12,339  as the state recorded 1,365 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 11 days now.  The state has carried out 74,781 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,335 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 82.61%. The state has in all recorded 16,333 active cases of which 90 are on ventilator support.

The state also saw 15 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were in Surat and three in Ahmedabad each. Bhavnagar and Rajkot recorded two deaths each while Gandhinagar, Vadodara and Gir Somnath had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three were in AMC limits while four were in SMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,198.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,755. The death toll has increased to 692 in Surat, whereas it remains 149 for Vadodara and 64 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 173 new cases being recorded while 105 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 153 new cases while it was 22 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 84 and 16 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 74,718 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1150.47. The state has tested over 32 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
