Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,402 new cases recorded


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 1,26,169 as the state recorded 1,402 new cases. This the fifth consecutive day of the state recording over 1400 cases in a day.

The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 16 days now. The state has carried out 62,097 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,321 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 84.34%. The state has in all recorded 16,402 active cases of which 92 are on ventilator support.

Gujarat COVID-19 new fatalities due to the disease stood at 16. Of this, five were in Surat while three were in Ahmedabad and Vadodara each. Rajkot had two deaths while Amreli, Gandhinagar and Surendranagar had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, two were in AMC and SMC limits.

With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,355.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,789. The death toll has increased to 742 in Surat, whereas it remains 169 for Vadodara and 75 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 179 new cases being recorded while 119 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 159 new cases while it was 20 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 96 and 26 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 62,097 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 955.34. The state has tested over 39 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
