Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,349 new cases recorded


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 1,16,345 as the state recorded 1,349 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 14 days now.  The state has carried out 78,182tests in the last 24 hours.

1,444 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 82.84%. The state has in all recorded 16,389 active cases of which 96 are on ventilator support.

The state also saw 17 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, four were recorded in Ahmedabad while five were in Surat. Jamnagar recorded three deaths and Vadodara had two. Gandhinagar, Rajkot and Mahisagar recorded one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four were in AMC limits while one was in SMC limits. With this, the total Gujarat COVID-19 deaths stand at 3,247.

The addition of four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,766. The death toll has increased to 706 in Surat, whereas it remains 154 for Vadodara and 68 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 173 new cases being recorded while 104 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 152 new cases while it was 20 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 89 and 18 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

Gujarat COVID-19 cases have so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 78,182 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1202.80. The state has tested over 34 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
