Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Friday touched 1,10,974 as the state recorded 1,344 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 10 days now. The state has carried out 71,668 tests in the last 24 hours.
1,240 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 82.42%. The state has in all recorded 16,318 active cases of which 94 are on ventilator support.
The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were in Surat and three in Ahmedabad. Bhavnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara recorded two deaths each while Banaskantha and Gandhinagar had one fatality each.
Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three each were in AMC and SMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,183.
The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,752. The death toll has increased to 687 in Surat, whereas it remains 148 for Vadodara and 63 for Gandhinagar.
Surat city saw 174 new cases being recorded while 101 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 153 new cases while it was 21 in the district.
Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 93 and 18 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.
Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics
The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
The state conducted 721,662 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1102.58. The state has tested over 31 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
