Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,329 new cases recorded


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Wednesday touched 1,08,295 as the state recorded 1,329 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for eight days now. The state has carried out 75,936 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,336 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 82.01%. The state has in all recorded 16,328 active cases of which 94 are on ventilator support.


The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, four were in Surat and Ahmedabad each. Rajkot, Gandhinagar and Vadodara recorded two deaths each while Mahisagar and Surendranagar had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four were in AMC limits while three were in SMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,152.

The addition of four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,745. The death toll has increased to 678 in Surat, whereas it remains 145 for Vadodara and 61 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 174 new cases being recorded while 92 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 149 new cases while it was 22 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 86 and 15 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 75,936 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1168.24. The state has tested over 30 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
