Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,320 new cases recorded


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Friday touched 1,01,695 as the state recorded 1,320 new cases. This is the fourth consecutive day that the state has recorded over 1,300 cases.  The state has carried out 75,453 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,218 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 81.02%. The state has in all recorded 16,219 active cases of which 92 are on ventilator support.


The state also saw 14 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, four were in Ahmedabad and three in Surat. Rajkot recorded two deaths while Gandhinagar, Gir-Somnath, Patan, Junagadh and Vadodara had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, two deaths were in SMC limits while all the four deaths were in AMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,078.

The addition of four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,730. The death toll has increased to 651 in Surat, whereas it remains 137 for Vadodara and 55 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 181 new cases being recorded while 90 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 152 new cases while it was 19 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 89 and 20 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day six times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 75,453 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1160.81. The state has tested over 26 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
