Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,311 new cases recorded

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Saturday touched 1,03,006  as the state recorded 1,311 new cases. This is the fifth consecutive day that the state has recorded over 1,300 cases. 

 The state has carried out 72,751 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,148 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 81.11%. The state has in all recorded 16,366 active cases of which 85 are on ventilator support.

 

The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, six were in Surat and two in Ahmedabad. Rajkot had three deaths while Vadodara recorded two. One death each was reported from Gandhinagar and Mehsana while another death was of a patient from outside Gujarat.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, two deaths each were in SMC and AMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,094.

The addition of two fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,732. The death toll has increased to 657 in Surat, whereas it remains 139 for Vadodara and 56 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 185 new cases being recorded while 92 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 151 new cases while it was 16 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 82 and 19 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day six times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 72,751 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1119.24. The state has tested over 27 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
