Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,310 is the highest single-day spike


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 97,745  as the state recorded 1,310 new cases. This is the first time that the state has recorded over 1,300 cases in a day. This is also the highest single-day spike in cases recorded since the pandemic began.

 The state has carried out 78,070 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,131 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 80.73%. The state has in all recorded 15,796 active cases of which 92 are on ventilator support.


The state also saw 14 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, six were in Surat and four in Ahmedabad. Vadodara recorded two deaths while Gir Somnath and Jamnagar had one each. 

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four deaths were in AMC limits while two were in SMC limits.

With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,036.

The addition of four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,720. The death toll has increased to 637 in Surat, whereas it remains 133 for Vadodara and 52 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 174 new cases being recorded while 115 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 145 new cases while it was 14 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 85 and 19 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day six times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 78,070 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million now standing at 1201.07. The state has tested over 24 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
