Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,295 new cases recorded


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 1,06,966  as the state recorded 1,295 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases consecutively for a week now.  The state has carried out 72,076 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,445 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 81.78%. The state has in all recorded 16,351 active cases of which 82 are on ventilator support.


The state also saw 13 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, six were in Surat and three in Ahmedabad. Rajkot had two deaths while Vadodara and Gandhinagar had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three deaths in each city were within the respective municipal corporation limits.

With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,136.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,741. The death toll has increased to 674 in Surat, whereas it remains 143 for Vadodara and 59 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 177 new cases being recorded while 88 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 148 new cases while it was 22 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 84 and 15 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 72,076 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1108.86. The state has tested over 29 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
