Gujarat COVID-19 figures touched a new high as the state on Wednesday reported 1,152 new cases taking the total number of people who have been infected in the state to 74,480. The state has in all recorded 14,282 active cases of which 75 are on a ventilator.
The state also saw 18 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were recorded in Surat and Rajkot each. All the cases in Rajkot and three in Surat were recorded from the city limits.
Ahmedabad recorded four deaths while Vadodara had two. Rajkot and Tapi recorded one death each. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,715.
The COVID-19 death toll is 1,644 for Ahmedabad, 519 for Surat, 103 for Vadodara and 47 for Gandhinagar.
Surat city saw 195 new cases being recorded while 77 were reported from the district. Similarly Ahmedabad Corporation area had 147 new cases while it was just 12 in the district. Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 93 and 14cases.
Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had less cases than the district.
Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics
The state has recorded over 1,100 cases 10 times, over 1000 cases thirteen times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
The state conducted 50,124 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 which comes to 771.13 tests per million. The state has tested over 11 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
