Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Sunday saw 1,101 new additions taking the total tally to 86,779 in the last 24 hours. The state also carried out 60,808 tests during the same period for the disease. The state has in all recorded 14,653 active cases of which 79 are on ventilator support.
The state also saw 14 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were in Surat and Ahmedabad each. Junagadh recorded two deaths each while Rajkot and Vadodara recorded one death each. Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three each were recorded in city limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,869.
The addition of five fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,686. The death toll has increased to 597 in Surat, whereas it remains 119 for Vadodara and 51 for Gandhinagar.
Surat city saw 162 new cases being recorded while 86 were reported from the district. Similarly, Ahmedabad Corporation area had 153 new cases while it was 24 in the district.
Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 87 and 14 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.
Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics
The state has so far crossed the over 1,200 cases per day mark twice. The state has recorded over 1,100 cases 16 times, over 1,000 cases seventeen times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
The state conducted 60,808 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million now standing at 935.50. The state has tested over 17 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
