Gujarat on Wednesday saw 1,073 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
This is the ninth time that the number of per day cases in Gujarat has crossed the 1,000 mark.
The overall number of COVID-19 cases has now crossed 66,000.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Gujarat now stands at 66,777.
The state has recorded over 1,100 cases seven times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days.
It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.
Death due to corona in Gujarat
Gujarat recorded 23 new deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Of the total deaths, six were recorded in Surat, five in Ahmedabad and Rajkot and two each in Junagadh and Vadodara. Gandhinagar, Jamnagar and Patan recorded one case each.
With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 2,557.
The COVID-19 death toll is 1,618 for Ahmedabad, 469 for Surat, 90 for Vadodara and 46 for Gandhinagar.
Surat recorded 237 new cases, while Ahmedabad had 161 cases.
Of the total cases recorded in Ahmedabad and Surat, 187 and 143 cases respectively were recorded within the city limits
Vadodara recorded 115 new cases while state capital Gandhinagar had 17 new cases.
Other COVID-19 statistics of Gujarat
The state has in all recorded 14,815 active cases of which 76 are on a ventilator.
Gujarat ranks 13th in new cases of COVID-19 being recorded across the country.
It ranks eighth in the number of active COVID-19 patients in India.
The state has conducted over 8.79 lakh sample tests for the disease while 5.02 lakh people remain in quarantine in various districts of Gujarat.
Of this, 5.01 lakh people are under home quarantine. The state said it is carrying out 374.89 tests per million.
