Gujarat: COVID-19 tally crosses 1.8 lakh

Gujarat has reported 1,020 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 1,80,699.

3,763 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Seven deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 3,763. While two deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad, two deaths have been reported from Surat. The districts of Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Gandhinagar have reported one death each.

194 fresh cases in Surat, 185 in Ahmedabad

Of the 1,020 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 194 cases have been reported from Surat, 185 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 127 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 66 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 113 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 14 cases, Mehsana 75 cases, and Jamnagar 26 cases.

Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 1,919

Similarly, the addition of the two fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,919. The death toll has increased to 858 in Surat, whereas it remains 212 for Vadodara and 95 for Gandhinagar.

1.64 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 12,340 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 68 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 1.64 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 819 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.

Notably, the daily surge in COVID-19 cases that has gone down below the 900-mark for the past several days have again started surging. From 860 cases on November 1, the number of cases has gradually increased to 1,046 on November 7.
