Gujarat: COVID-19 tally nearing 1.89 lakh

Gujarat has reported 1,070 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 1,88,310.

3,803 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Six deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 3,803. While three deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad, one death has been reported from Surat. The districts of Rajkot and Vadodara have reported one death each.

187 fresh cases in Surat, 219 in Ahmedabad

Of the 1,070 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 187 cases have been reported from Surat, 219 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 140 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 51 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 150 cases, Bhavnagar has reported five cases, Mehsana 59 cases, and Jamnagar 26 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 13 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 11 fresh cases. Dahod has reported eight cases, Amreli five cases and Kheda 18 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 12 cases, Valsad has reported one case, Anand 15 cases, and Patan 31 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 45,343. The total tally has reached 39,846 in Surat, 17,659 in Vadodara, and 5,539 in Gandhinagar.

Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 1,937

Similarly, the addition of the three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,937. The death toll has increased to 865 in Surat, whereas it remains 215 for Vadodara and 97 for Gandhinagar.

1.71 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 12,575 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 67 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 1.71 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 1,001 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
