Gujarat: COVID-19 tally nearing 1.75 lakh


Gujarat has reported 860 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 1,73,804.

3,724 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Five deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 3,724. While two deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad, one death has been reported from Surat. The districts of Patan and Vadodara have reported one death each.

220 fresh cases in Surat, 177 in Ahmedabad

Of the 860 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 220 cases have been reported from Surat, 177 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 117 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 31 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 82 cases, Bhavnagar has reported nine cases, Mehsana 26 cases, and Jamnagar 21 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 22 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported five fresh cases. Dahod has reported four cases, Amreli eight cases and Kheda 14 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 12 cases, Valsad has reported one case, Anand eight cases, and Patan five cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 42,691. The total tally has reached 37,117 in Surat, 15,945 in Vadodara, and 4,940 in Gandhinagar.

Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 1,905

Similarly, the addition of the two fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,905. The death toll has increased to 851 in Surat, whereas it remains 210 for Vadodara and 91 for Gandhinagar.

1.57 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 12,833 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 56 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 1.57 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 1,128 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
