Gujarat: COVID-19 tally crosses 2.52 lakh, vaccine to arrive tomorrow


Gujarat has reported 615 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Monday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 2,52,559.

Meanwhile, Gujarat’s health minister Nitin Patel on Monday announced that the first consignment of COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in the state on Tuesday.

The first lot of vaccines will arrive at Ahmedabad airport at around 10.45 am on Tuesday, the minister tweeted. The minister said that Gujarat has all the facilities in place for carrying out the vaccination drive.

4,347 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Three deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 4,347. While two deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad, one death has been reported from Surat.

128 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 129 in Surat

Of the 615 fresh cases reported on Monday, 129 cases have been reported from Surat, 128 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 119 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 19 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 60 cases, Bhavnagar has reported eight cases, Mehsana 12 cases, and Jamnagar 14 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 11 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported seven fresh cases. Dahod has reported 14 cases, Amreli two cases and Kheda 10 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported six cases, Valsad has reported three cases, Anand nine cases, and Patan reported no fresh case.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 59,169. The total tally has reached 50,814 in Surat, 26,184 in Vadodara, and 8,306 in Gandhinagar.

Ahmedabad’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 2,271

Similarly, the addition of the two fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 2,271. The death toll has increased to 971 in Surat, whereas it remains 239 for Vadodara and 106 for Gandhinagar.

2.40 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 7,695 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 60 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 2.40 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 746 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
