Gujarat COVID-19 Update: New single-day high of 1,432


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Saturday touched 1,21,930 as the state recorded 1,432 new cases. This the highest single per-day cases to be recorded in the state consecutively since the pandemic began.

The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 16 days now.  The state has carried out 61,432 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,470 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 84.12%. The state has in all recorded 16,054 active cases of which 97 are on ventilator support.

The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, five were in Surat while three were in Ahmedabad. Bhavnagar and Vadodara had two deaths while Amreli, Gandhinagar, Kutch and Rajkot had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, three were in AMC limits while one was in SMC limits.

With this, the Gujarat COVID-19 deaths stands at 3,305.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,779. The death toll has increased to 726 in Surat, whereas it remains 162 for Vadodara and 71 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 174 new cases being recorded while 107 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 152 new cases while it was 26 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 99 and 21 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 61,432 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 945.11. The state has tested over 37 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
