Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,364 new cases recorded

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Wednesday touched 1,17,709  as the state recorded 1,364 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for a fortnight now. 

 The state has carried out 75,153 tests in the last 24 hours.  1,447 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 83.39%. The state has in all recorded 16,294 active cases of which 97 are on ventilator support.

The state also saw 12 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, three were recorded in Ahmedabad while five were in Surat. Rajkot recorded two deaths while Gir Somnath and Vadodara had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four were in AMC limits while one was in SMC limits. With this, the total number of Gujarat COVDI-19 deaths stand at 3,259.

The addition of three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,769. The death toll has increased to 711 in Surat, whereas it remains 155 for Vadodara and 68 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 174 new cases being recorded while 107 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 147 new cases while it was 18 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 81 and 18 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 75,153 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1310.05. The state has tested over 35 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
