Gandhinagar: Congress delegation met State Governor Acharya Devvrat in Gandhinagar today and lodged a complaint before the Governor regarding local bodies election in Gujarat. After meeting the Governor, Congress leaders demanded the release of Zaveri Commission Report immediately. Congress said that due to non – release of the report, Panchayat Elections have been stalled. Government is appointing its administrators.

Report not released even after 9 months
Congress MLA Amit Chavda, who met the Governor, said efforts are on to end the rule of elected members of public. Reservation of 10 per cent seats for OBC community has been removed. The government is not giving the report even after the conclusion of the term of commission. Therefore, it is necessary for the Governor to take a step and intervene the matter. The report of Zaveri Commission was due for release within 3 months, but 9 months have passed and it is yet to be released. Due to non-release of the report Panchayat elections could not held.
Due to non-release of the report, the issues of the local people are also affected. It has been also alleged by the Congress that even their work is not completed. The Congress has requested the Governor to release the report of the commission immediately. The Congress has also alleged that BJP has conspired to wipe out the political existence of the OBC community in Gujarat. In the coming days, the issue can be a limelight. The Congress is trying for local elections in the near period of 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
