The hospital administration carried out several tests on the chief minister including ECG, Echo and blood tests which were found normal. As a precautionary measure, his sample for a RT-PCR COVID-19 test was also sent yesterday. The report for the COVID-19 test came on Monday and it is positive, the hospital said in a statement.

The hospital also said that his health parameters, including oxygen saturation level, are normal and his condition is stable. The CM’s treatment for COVID-19 will continue at the hospital.

The CM has mild symptoms of the viral infection, the institute’s director Dr RK Patel said.

CM Vijay Rupani faints on stage

CM Rupani, who is aggressively campaigning for the BJP in the local body polls scheduled later this month, was addressing a rally in Vadodara. He suddenly collapsed on the stage where he was immediately given first aid. He was then taken to Ahmedabad in a helicopter and admitted to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre.

Vadodara city BJP president Dr. Vijay Shah who was present on the dais when CM Rupani collapsed said that he gave him primary medical treatment. Shah said that the CM was fine within a few minutes and walked back to his car from the stage in the Nizampura area.

Notably, the CM was unwell for the past two days, but instead of cancelling his public meetings ahead of the civic polls in Jamnagar and Vadodara, he preferred to continue.
