With the BJP leading in all six municipal corporations in Gujarat and likely to win all of them, the party is gearing up for celebrating the peoples’ verdict. There are reports that the saffron party will organise an event to celebrate the victory at its Khanpur office in Ahmedabad.
In the celebrations, BJP Gujarat president CR Patil, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union home minister Amit Shah are likely to take part in the celebratory event. The Ahmedabad Police has tightened the security deployment at BJP office in Khanpur.
BJP candidates who have won the election and their supporters have already started celebrations at various places across the six municipal corporations.
BJP leading in all six municipal corporations
As per the latest trends that include both leads as well as wins, BJP is leading in 286 seats and Congress in 42 seats out of the 576 seats in six municipal corporations. The BJP is ahead in 82 seats in Ahmedabad while the Congress is leading in 16. In Surat, the BJP has widened the gap, with gains in 56 seats to the Congress’s 8.
In Vadodara, the BJP is ahead in 33 seats while the Congress is leading in seven seats. In Rajkot, the BJP is leading in 48 seats while the Congress is yet to win any. In Bhavnagar, the BJP has gained in 31 seats and the Congress in five. The BJP is ahead in 43 seats in Jamnagar and the Congress in six.
Votes are being counted for 192 seats across 48 wards in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, 120 seats across 30 wards in the Surat Municipal Corporation, 76 seats across 19 wards of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, 72 seats across 18 wards in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, 52 seats across 13 wards in the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation and 64 seats across 16 wards in the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.
