Gujarat Cabinet swearing-in: Phone calls to ‘chosen’ MLAs begin

Gandhinagar: Hours before the swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet of Gujarat government, the political corridors were already buzzing with action. There were reports of phone calls being made to MLAs, an indication that they might be taking oath at Raj Bhavan at 1.30 pm on Thursday.

Those MLAs who have reportedly got the calls are Jagdish Panchal, Mukesh Patel, Hrishikesh Patel, Harsh Sanghvi, Naresh Patel, Jitu Vaghani, Kanu Desai, Dushyant Patel, JV Kakadia, Brijesh Merja, Arvind Raiyyani, etc.

Several back-to-back meetings have been held over past two days for discussions about the new Gujarat Cabinet. On Wednesday, it was reported that the new government would have all new faces, with the party deciding to implement the ‘no repeat’ theory. According to sources, the portfolio allocation may be done by Thursday evening.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had taken the oath of office on Monday. On Wednesday, four IAS officers in the CMO were replaced.
