Gujarat bypolls update: Complaint of outsiders voting in Dangs

Surat: A complaint of outsiders coming to vote in Dangs, where bypolls are being held, was made on Tuesday. The complaint has been filed by a police constable. The complaint alleges that those belonging to other districts are being brought to Dangs to vote. The incident allegedly happened in Bhisya village of Dangs. Dangs has seen the highest voting among all the eight seats where bypolls are being held. Dang registered 87% voting till afternoon.

Morbi: A video of BJP workers convincing voters in Medhpar village in Morbi to vote for the Saffron party has gone viral. Congress MLA Lalit Kagathra has alleged that the video is of BJP workers.

EC seeks report on Karjan money distribution incident

Ahmedabad: 23.29% of votes were cast in the eight seats that went to bypolls up to 11 am on Tuesday. The Election Commission has ordered an inquiry into the complaint where it was alleged that BJP supporters distributed pamphlets close to the polling station. The officials also said that they are also looking into violation of poll conduct in connection with two videos that went viral.

Officials said prima facie there seems to be no proof of bogus voting happening in Gedi village in Limdi although they have sought a report in the matter.

About the incident in Karjan where alleged BJP workers were distributing money to voters, officials said they have sought a report from the collector.

Two videos of money being distributed are doing the rounds. In another video, the workers are alleged to be of Congress. Two people who have been nabbed have been identified as Sohail Chauhan and Vignesh Patel. One of the other accused, Meet Patel, is absconding.
