Gujarat: 848 COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths in a day


Gujarat has reported 848 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.16 lakh.

9,933 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Unfortunately, 12 deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 9,933. While three deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported two deaths. One death has been reported each from Gir Somnath, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar and Aravalli.

245 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 197 in Surat

Of the 848 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 134 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 141 cases have been reported from Surat, 191 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 11 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 49 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 12 cases, Mehsana 12 cases, and Jamnagar 31 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 56 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 18 fresh cases. Dahod has reported two cases, Amreli six cases and Kheda 14 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 12 cases, Valsad has reported 14 cases, Anand 10 cases, and Patan reported eight cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.37 lakh The total tally has reached 1.42 lakh in Surat, 77,179 in Vadodara, and 20,343 in Gandhinagar.

7.62 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 18,008 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 371 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 7.88 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 2,815 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
