Gujarat: 778 COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths in a day


Gujarat has reported 778 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Monday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.17 lakh.

9,944 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Unfortunately, 11 deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 9,944. While three deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported two deaths. One death has been reported each from Vadodara, Bharuch, Rajkot, Mehsana, Sabarkantha and Amreli.

120 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 115 in Surat

Of the 778 fresh cases reported on Monday, 120 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 115 cases have been reported from Surat, 181 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 13 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 47 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 16 cases, Mehsana 15 cases, and Jamnagar 24 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 51 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 17 fresh cases. Dahod has reported three cases, Amreli seven cases and Kheda 11 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 27 cases, Valsad has reported 12 cases, Anand 19 cases, and Patan reported five cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.37 lakh The total tally has reached 1.42 lakh in Surat, 77,360 in Vadodara, and 20,356 in Gandhinagar.

7.90 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 16,162 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 363 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 7.90 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 2,613 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
