Gujarat: 7,410 COVID-19 cases, 73 deaths in a day

Gujarat has reported 7,410 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Wednesday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 3.67 lakh. It is the highest single-day surge in cases since the pandemic began last year.

4,995 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Seventy-three deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 4,995.  While 25 deaths were reported each from Ahmedabad and Surat, seven deaths have been reported from Vadodara, nine deaths have been reported from Rajkot and two deaths from Sabarkantha. Junagarh reported two deaths whereas Amreli, Dang and Gandhinagar reported one death each.

2,526 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 1,655 in Surat

Of the 7,410 fresh cases reported on Wednesday, 2,526 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 1,655 cases have been reported from Surat, 452 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 120 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 653 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 165 cases, Mehsana 191 cases, and Jamnagar 308 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 245 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 74 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 61 cases, Amreli 55 cases and Kheda 51 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 124 cases, Valsad has reported 37 cases, Anand 76 cases, and Patan reported 108 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 89,636. The total tally has reached 79,484 in Surat, 39,953 in Vadodara, and 10,414 in Gandhinagar.

3.23 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 39,250 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 254 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 3.23 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 2,642 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
