Gujarat records 7 deaths due to Covid in 24 hours; new cases drop below 10k


Gandhinagar: Seven patients of Covid-19 in Gujarat succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours. This is the highest since June 12 when there were 9 deaths, a seven-month high.

A total of 9,177 fresh cases of infection were recorded in Gujarat on Saturday.

The overall case tally of Gujarat has crossed 9 lakh. So far, the state has recorded 9,16,090 cases of Covid-19. Of these, 8,46,375 recovered from the infection, while 10,151 patients lost their lives battling it.

The active caseload of Covid in Gujarat is 19,564, of which 60 are on ventilator.


6,047 cases in 3 major cities

Ahmedabad city recorded 2,621 new cases, Surat city 2,215, Vadodara city 1,211. Together, they account for 6,047 cases of the day’s tally.

Rajkot city recorded 438, Surat rural 282, Bhavnagar city 250, Gandhinagar city 218, Valsad 201, Navsari 175, Rajkot rural 149, Mehsana 135, Jamnagar city 121 and Gandhinagar rural 102.

Kutch and Vadodara rural recorded 87 cases each, Banaskantah 81, Anand 78, Patan 77, Morbi 76, Gir Somnath 67, Bharuch 63, Kheda 59, Ahmedabad rural, Bhavnagar rural and Dahod 45 each, Surendranagar 44, Jamnagar rural 40, Sabarkantha 35, Junagadh city 32, Mahisagar 27, Amreli 15, Panchmahals 14, Devbhumi Dwarka and Junagadh rural 9 each, Tapi 7, Porbandar 6, Aravalli and Botad 2 each and Dangs 1.


2 deaths each in Ahmedabad, Surat

Of the 7 deaths recorded in Gujarat on Saturday, 2 each were in Ahmedabad and Surat cities and 1 each in Surat rural, Navsari and Rajkot rural.


92.39% recovery

A total of 5,404 patients recovered from Covid in last 24 hours. The recovery rate in the state is 92.39%.


1.76 lakh vaccinated

A total of 1,76,918 individuals received the Covid vaccine in the state on Saturday. The overall vaccination figure has reached 9.46 crore.
