Gujarat: 644 COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths in a day


Gujarat has reported 644 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Wednesday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.18 lakh.

9,965 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Unfortunately, 10 deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 9,965. While three deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported two deaths. One death has been reported each from Vadodara, and Junagarh, Mahisagar, Jamnagar and Amreli.

98 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 100 in Surat

Of the 644 fresh cases reported on Wednesday, 98 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 100 cases have been reported from Surat, 130 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 11 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 56 cases, Bhavnagar has reported nine cases, Mehsana 12 cases, and Jamnagar 28 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has also reported 28 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported nine fresh cases. Dahod has reported two cases, Amreli 10 cases and Kheda 16 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 11 cases, Valsad has reported nine cases, Anand 14 cases, and Patan reported three cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.37 lakh The total tally has reached 1.42 lakh in Surat, 77,630 in Vadodara, and 20,379 in Gandhinagar.

7.94 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 13,683 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 346 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 7.94 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 1,675 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
