No let-up in Covid-related deaths in Gujarat; 30 succumb to infection in 24 hours

  • 12,131 fresh cases of Covid-19 in Gujarat on Friday


Gandhinagar: The deaths due to Covid-19 in Gujarat rose further on Friday. A total of 30 patients succumbed to the infection in 24 hours ending Friday evening, as per the state health department. The death toll on Thursday was 22.

A total of 12,131 persons tested positive for the infection during this period, down from 12,911 the previous day.

The active caseload of Covid in Gujarat is 1,07,915, of which 297 patients are on ventilator support.


4k cases in Ahmedabad city

Ahmedabad city recorded 4,046 new cases of Covid-19, followed by Vadodara city with 1,999 cases, Rajkot city 958, Surat city 628, Vadodara rural 518 and Surat rural 443.

Patan recorded 286 cases, Gandhinagar city 271, Rajkot rural 255, Kutch 206, Bhavnagar city 185, Jamnagar city 176, Valsad 166, Banaskantha and Mehsana 157, Navsari 151, Bharuch 148, Anand and Morbi 138, Kheda 129, Gandhinagar rural 128 and Sabarkantha 106.

The remaining cities had less than 100 cases.


7 deaths in Ahmedabad city

Of the 30 deaths, the highest, 7, were in Ahmedabad city. Rajkot city accounted for 4 deaths, Vadodara city 3, Surat rural , Bhavnagar city, Valsad and Bharuch 2 each, Surat city, Vadodara rural, Rajkot rural, Jamnagar city, Gandhinagar rural, Panchmahals, Bhavnagar rural and Mahisagar 1 each.


22k recoveries; overall recovery crosses 10 lakh

A total of 22,070 patients recovered from Covid-19 in Gujarat in last 24 hours.

The overall recovery has reached 10.14 lakh (10,14,501), which is 89.56 per cent of the cases recorded till now.


1.94 lakh vaccinated in a day

A total of 1,94,350 individuals received the Covid vaccine in Gujarat on Friday. The cumulative vaccination figure in the state crossed 9.73 crore.
