Gujarat reports 298 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths


Gujarat has reported 298 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.21 lakh.

10,012 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Unfortunately, five deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 10,012. While two deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported one death. One death has been reported each from Amreli and Arvalli.

48 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 73 in Surat

Of the 298 fresh cases reported on Wednesday, 48 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 73 cases have been reported from Surat, 31 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and six cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, 23 cases were reported from Rajkot, Bhavnagar reported four case, Mehsana reported one case, and nine cases were reported from Jamnagar.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 16 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported four fresh cases. Dahod has reported one case, Amreli 10 cases, and Kheda four cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported six cases, Valsad has reported seven cases, Anand 10 cases, and Patan reported one case.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.37 lakh The total tally has reached 1.43 lakh in Surat, 78,107 in Vadodara, and 20,443 in Gandhinagar.

8.03 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 8,242 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 209 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 8.03 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 935 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
