Gujarat: 2,875 COVID-19 cases, 14 deaths in a day

Gujarat has reported 2,875 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Saturday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 3.18 lakh. It is the highest single-day surge in cases in 2021.

4,566 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Fourteen deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 4,566. While eight deaths were reported from Surat, Ahmedabad reported four deaths. One death was reported each from Areli and Vadodara.

676 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 724 in Surat

Of the 2,875 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 724 cases have been reported from Surat, 676 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 367 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 65 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 276 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 77 cases, Mehsana 56 cases, and Jamnagar 97 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 25 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 37 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 38 cases, Amreli 18 cases and Kheda 29 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 30 cases, Valsad has reported 16 cases, Anand 25 cases, and Patan reported 61 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 75,203. The total tally has reached 67,837 in Surat, 35,866 in Vadodara, and 9,504 in Gandhinagar.

2.98 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 15,135 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 163 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 2.98 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 2,024 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
