- 13 patients succumb to Covid-19; Ahmedabad city nears 10k mark
Ahmedabad: Gujarat witnessed a fresh peak of Covid-19 cases for the third straight day on Thursday, with 24,485 persons testing positive for the infection. It was also a 17% jump from the previous day’s tally of 20,966.
As many as 13 patients succumbed to the infection in 24 hours.
Ahmedabad’s case count nears 10k
The four major cities of Gujarat continued to account for a major chunk of the new cases. Ahmedabad city recorded 9,837 new cases, Surat city 2,981, Vadodara city 2823 and Rajkot city 1,333.
Surat rural recorded 728 cases, Anand 558, Bhavnagar city 529, Gandhinagar city 509, Jamnagar city 471, Valsad 446, Bharuch 408, Vadodara rural 371, Mehsana 354 and Kutch 346.
Navsari recorded 297, Gandhinagar rural 225 and Morbi 206.
Rajkot rural recorded 188, Patan 180, Banaskantha 174, Surendranagar 156, Junagadh city 129, Amreli and Jamnagar rural 128 each, Ahmedabad rural 120, Porbandar 117, Kheda 112, Sabarkantha 111 and Panchmahals 110.
The remaining places recorded less than 100 cases.
7 of 13 deaths in Ahmedabad city
The maximum deaths due to Covid in Gujarat were recorded in Ahmedabad city that accounted for 7 deaths.
Surat city reported two deaths, and Jamnagar city, Gandhinagar rural, Rajkot rural and Kheda one each. The overall death toll has reached 10,199.
A total of 10,310 patients recovered from Covid-19. The overall recovery has crossed 8.86 lakh, which is 88.51 per cent of the cases recorded till now.
The active caseload of Covid cases in Gujarat crossed the mark of 1 lakh and is currently 1,04,888 lakh.
2.47 lakh vaccinated on Thursday
A total of 2,47,111 persons received the Covid-19 vaccine on Thursday. More than 9.58 crore doses have been administered across Gujarat till now.
