Gujarat: 2,252 COVID-19 cases, 8 deaths in a day


Gujarat has reported 2,252 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Monday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 3.03 lakh. It is the third-highest single-day surge in cases in 2021.

4,500 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Eight deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 4,500. While three deaths were reported each from Ahmedabad and Surat, one death was reported each from Rajkot and Panchmahals.

615 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 775 in Surat

Of the 2,252 fresh cases reported on Monday, 677 cases have been reported from Surat, 612 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 236 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 44 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 242 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 45 cases, Mehsana 31 cases, and Jamnagar 33 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 15 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 25 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 21 cases, Amreli 19 cases and Kheda 27 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 21 cases, Valsad has reported 14 cases, Anand 16 cases, and Patan reported 12 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 71,380. The total tally has reached 63,779 in Surat, 33,779 in Vadodara, and 9,166 in Gandhinagar.

2.86 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 12,041 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 149 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 2.86 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 1,731 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
