Ahmedabad: Thanks to the robust vaccination process in Gujarat, more than 2 crore residents of the state are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19, as per the bulletin issued by the state health department. It is among the few states that have earned this distinction.
By Wednesday evening, over 6.28 crore doses of the vaccine had been administered across Gujarat. So far, a total of 4,27,15,568 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 2,01,40,412 received the second dose. They are thus fully vaccinated now.
Thus, over 40 per cent of the state’s eligible population has received both doses of the vaccine.
The state-wide vaccination drive had started on January 16.
Gujarat has become only the third state with more than 2 crore of its residents fully vaccinated. Maharashtra is at the top of the list, having administered both doses to 2.57 crore people, followed by Uttar Pradesh where over 2.28 crore have received both the doses.
The state had hit the mark of 6 crore doses on September 27.
On Wednesday, over 3.3 lakh doses of the vaccine were administered here.
