Gujarat: 1,871 COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths in a day


Gujarat has reported 1,871 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.07 lakh.

9,815 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Unfortunately, 25 deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 9,815. While five deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported four deaths. Three deaths have been reported from Vadodara and one death was reported from Amreli. Gandhinagar reported no death, Jamnagar reported two deaths and Rajkot reported one death. Junagarh reported one death.

245 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 197 in Surat

Of the 1,871 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 245 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 197 cases have been reported from Surat, 315 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 24 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 165 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 66 cases, Mehsana 33 cases, and Jamnagar 71 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 108 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 49 fresh cases. Dahod has reported two cases, Amreli 25 cases and Kheda 31 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 52 cases, Valsad has reported 33 cases, Anand 27 cases, and Patan reported eight cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.35 lakh The total tally has reached 1.41 lakh in Surat, 75,444 in Vadodara, and 20,238 in Gandhinagar.

7.62 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 35,403 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 521 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 7.62 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 5,146 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
