Gujarat reports 17 COVID-19 cases, one death


Gujarat has reported 17 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 8.25 lakh. One death was reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The lone death was reported from Jamnagar. The state’s death toll due to COVID currently stands at 10,080.

Over 3.46 lakh people were administered vaccines on Wednesday until 4 pm. Of it, 1.41 lakh belong to the 18-44 age group who took their first dose of the vaccine. According to the data compiled by the Union health ministry, over 4.36 crore doses of the vaccines have been administered in Gujarat until Monday. It includes 3.29 crore first doses and 1.07 crore second doses.

2 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 6 in Surat

Of the 17 fresh cases reported on Wednesday, two cases were reported from Ahmedabad, six cases were reported from Surat, two cases were reported from Vadodara and five cases were reported from Dahod. This apart, one case was reported each from Gandhinagar and Kutch.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 2.38 lakh The total tally has reached 1.43 lakh in Surat, 78,653 in Vadodara, and 20,512 in Gandhinagar.

8.15 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are over 159 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, five patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 8.15 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 17 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
