Gujarat: 1,580 COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths in a day

Gujarat has reported 1,580 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 2,87,009. It is the highest single-day surge in cases in 2021.

4,450 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat

Seven deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 4,450. While three deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, Surat reported two deaths. Vadodara and Gandhinagar reported one death each.

451 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 510 in Surat

Of the 1,580 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 510 cases have been reported from Surat, 451 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 132 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 31 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.

This apart, Rajkot has reported 130 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 34 cases, Mehsana 28 cases, and Jamnagar 25 cases.

Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported nine fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 29 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 17 cases, Amreli seven cases and Kheda 31 cases.

Similarly, Bharuch has reported 11 cases, Valsad has reported six cases, Anand 12 cases, and Patan reported 13 cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 66,864. The total tally has reached 58,552 in Surat, 32,128 in Vadodara, and 9,011 in Gandhinagar.

2.75 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far

According to the health department, there are 7,321 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 71 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 2.75 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 989 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
