Gujarat records 14,781 new Covid-19 cases, 21 deaths in 24 hours


Gandhinagar: Gujarat recorded 14,781 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Wednesday evening, the health department said. Twenty-one patients succumbed to the infection during this period.

The death toll has reached 10,323.


5.2k cases, 9 deaths in Ahmedabad city

The maximum number of new cases and deaths during the day were recorded in Ahmedabad city where 5,248 persons tested positive and 9 patients succumbed to the infection on Wednesday.

Vadodara city recorded 2,412 cases.  All the other cities had less than 1,000 cases.

Rajkot city reported 944 cases, followed by Surat city wiht 834, Vadodara rural 604, Gandhinagar city 544, Mehsana 403, Surat rural 394 and Kutch 312.

Rajkot rural recorded 291 cases, Anand 245, Bhavnagar city 233, Patan 230, Gandhinagar rural 202 and Jamnagar city 201.

The remaining cities had less than 200 cases.

Besides 9 deaths in Ahmedabad city, Surat city recorded 3 deaths, Surat rural and Valsad 2 each and Vadodara city and rural, Rajkot city, Jamnagar city and rural 1 each.


20.8k recoveries

A total of 20,829 patients recovered from Covid in Gujarat on Wednesday. The overall recovery is 9.69 lakh or 87.5 per cent of the overall cases.

The active caseload of Covid in the state is 1.28 lakh. Of these, 309 patients are on ventilator support, up from 255 the previous day.


2.17 lakh vaccinated on Wednesday

A total of 2,17,441 individuals received the Covid-19 vaccine on Wednsday, taking the cumulative vaccination figure in the state to over 9.69 crore.
