Gujarat has reported 10,340 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally past 4.04 lakh. It is the highest single-day surge in cases since the pandemic began last year.
5,377 COVID-19 related deaths in Gujarat
110 deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 5,377. While 28 deaths were reported each from Ahmedabad and Surat, 10 deaths have been reported from Vadodara, 11 deaths have been reported from Rajkot and seven deaths from Surendranagar. Gandhinagar reported five deaths, Jamnagar reported six deaths and Bharuch reported three deaths.
Banaskantha, Mehsana, Morbi and Sabarkantha reported two deaths each, whereas Aravalli, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh and Kheda reported one death each.
3,694 fresh cases in Ahmedabad, 2,425 in Surat
Of the 10,340 fresh cases reported on Sunday, 3,694 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 2,425 cases have been reported from Surat, 509 cases have been reported from Vadodara, and 150 cases have been reported from the state capital Gandhinagar.
This apart, Rajkot has reported 811 cases, Bhavnagar has reported 198 cases, Mehsana 389 cases, and Jamnagar 366 cases.
Meanwhile, Junagarh has reported 122 fresh cases of the virus, whereas the tribal district of Panchamahals has reported 74 fresh cases. Dahod has reported 69 cases, Amreli 98 cases and Kheda 69 cases.
Similarly, Bharuch has reported 59 cases, Valsad has reported 61 cases, Anand 91 cases, and Patan reported 158 cases.
With the addition of the fresh cases, the total COVID-19 case tally in Ahmedabad has increased to 1,02,225. The total tally has reached 85,446 in Surat, 41,662 in Vadodara, and 11,127 in Gandhinagar.
3.37 lakh COVID-19 patients discharged so far
According to the health department, there are 61,647 active cases of the virus in Gujarat. Of this, 329 patients are critical and have been put on ventilator support. So far, 3.37 lakh patients have been discharged in the state after being treated for the viral infection. In fact, 3,981 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
