The Gujarat government has clarified that the purported news doing the rounds of another lockdown in the offing is nothing but a rumour. The government’s information department has clarified that some people have been spreading the news that a Lockdown 5.0 will be in force from June 1 under which a severe lockdown will be implemented. The government said that this is nothing but a rumour and has warned citizens not to believe such rumours.
The Gujarat government had earlier eased several restrictions put forward during the Lockdown 4.0. India has had the lockdown extended four times so far to help control the spread of COVID-19 in the country. While the initial three lockdowns saw severe restrictions being put in place, the Lockdown 4.0 which will come to an end on May 31, has seen state’s allowing for movement of its citizens. In Gujarat, shops and businesses are allowed to function from 8 am to 4 pm but there is restriction on movement from 7 pm to 7am.
